I recently purchaced a brand new 308 QV front bonnet for my carb 308 (1978 euro) from Ferrari UK. The body shop has informed me that the hinge mounts on the hood do not line up. I was told that the hood swap would work however. Has anyone run into this, or have any information to contribute. I will see if I can send thehood back to Ferrari UK, but will most likely eat the shipping. Anyone interested in buying a new QV front bonnet for a 308 QV??

They can't make it work at all? Not sure what the structure of a QV hood looks like but on the '78 it's just basically a "tapping block" that's welded onto the tubing. Seems like unless the interior structure is completely different it should be pretty simple to fab up a new "block".

How much is it out by? The cars were hand finished, so if it's out by a small amount (a few mm) that's normal and a replacement might not be any better.

I second that. Any shop that has an ounce of creativity will be able to fix ANY problem.

heres more info. the hinge holes are a good half inch off, my question was if this is normal - like did i get a bugus hood. i want to be able to disclose this when selling the hood. the body shop i am dealing is an incredible shop and can do anything with surgical precision (they have completely chemical stripped my 308 and flexed each hail dent by hand, covered up side marker light holes and are building a rear wheel duct like on the 250gto). the cost of moving hinge points was a wash with repairing the old hood (hail dents) and cutting a section out for the QV vent which is what i want. plus there were parts on the qv hood (landing tabs/posts??) that needed to be cut off cause the carb hood did not have those either (in the underside of hood). the hood cost me $460 plus a whopping $340 in shipping. apparently it is NOS. i will sell it for $450 plus shiping - i estimate shipping at about $90. but again, my question is,,are there known differences in the hinge mounting points to the front bonnet on these suckas between QV and carb??....
    thanks.........john

I ran into ths same problem but in reverse. I was fitting a carb hood on my 308 QV. Things didn't line up too well for us either. Right now the hood is at the body shop waiting for me to bring the car back. I'll let everyone know how we figured it out when we get it on.

well, Tommy, that is interesting. is it the hinge mounting points in your hood that do not line up???? now i am feeling a bit better about the QV hood i bought - seems like there is a difference and the QV hood i got will fit a qV but not a carb car. let me know what you find out - OK??? thanks
    john
too late to swap out hoods for me, they already started cutting into my carb hood to fit the vent.......

I really do not remember the exact details. My next door neighbor is doing it and neither of us is in a hurry. I do remember it wasn't easy. I'll ask him tonight and let you know.
