I was wondering if anyone might be able to help... Ive got a US spec QV and I hope to change the bumper to a Euro spec part. Im getting a friend of mine to make up the grill, but what sort of driving light/fog lights should I get to replicate the Euro QV front end?

    Many thanks in anticipation,

    Colin

I dont' have the answer for you, but would your friend be willing to make up a second Euro grill at the same time?

Hi - this is my first post on Ferrari Chat - at last a question that I can answer. I have a '84 Euro spec QV and it has a pair of Cibie fog / driving lights mounted just below the indicators. The grill ends next to the fog lights , and does not cover them. My car came with the fogs but I have since got Cibie covers for them. They look very cool, and obviously serve a purpose. The place I ordered the covers should have the lights as well. Check out http://www.cars.u-net.com/cibie.htm and look for Airport 35 fogs. I can't remember now if mine have the black or chrome finish but can check it out for you.

Stock Cibie was chrome. Have my old stock ones in a box here gathering dust. The pic below has Hella fog lights as the stock Cibie were pretty tattered and wanted a more modern look (and PIAA did not offer small enough fogs to fit is the small area).

Thanks for that - the picture and the email link is a great help.

mcharness: re my mate making up another - I suspect he might be up for that, depending on it goes for mine. Im assured its quite an easy job however.

Perhaps I should contact you with pics of mine once it's done to see if you're interested?

    Many thanks again, Colin

It's not as simple a project as it might seem. Just making a grill that will allow lights on each side may not get the job done. The grill opening is much longer top to bottom on a Euro car. For us that would mean that we would have to use much smaller lights to squeeze them in there on each side. I doubt it would look the same. However, if it turns out that the appearence is not much different, even with the smaller lights, I'll go in for one myself.

Going off on a tangent here.... But,
If your not going to be doing much night driving,
rather than installing driving lights, how about brake vents
with ducts going to the front brakes?

It also means changing to euro bumpers...

It's probably best to do that with ducts built into a 288GTO type front spoiler.

Great idea for the track, but on normal road driving that may be a bad thing as if the brakes are too cold you may get less stopping power. Am customizing some bits here so that during track events the fogs will be removed and will be substituted by cooling duct inlets (and add proper hosing to the rotors.
