I just completed replacing the injectors on my '85 308 QV USA model, just because they were origianl and old. Car ran just fine before the change. Now it barely runs and I think I am dumping too much fuel to burn in some cylinders. There is a huge lack of power and just as soon as I could get turned around a couple blocks from home, the "slow down" light indicating a hot catalytic converter came on.

Do you think it is possible that I am getting more flow thorugh the new injectors and producing a mixture so rich it will not ignite in some cylinders? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this condition?

    Thanks,
    Russ

Update - Using an inductive timing light I was able to confirm spark to the rear bank and NO spark at all to the front bank. At this time there are still lots of possibilties for that, but it looks like the fuel injector change was not the cause. From reading the forum I think I will replace the flywheel sensors just because it is suggested it is just a matter of time until failure for one or more of them anyway. As soon as that is done, if the no fire is still there I will located the cause of the failure with my DVM.

Any one out there that has changed the flywheel sensors that cares to give me some tips as I plan to tackle this one myself would be much appreciated.

    Thanks guys,

    Russ

I think I would switch coils and see if the problem moves banks. It's a quick and easy to eliminate one possible problem and costs nothing.

    Hi Walt,

Good suggestion. It was not to difficult to swap coils and after I did that there was still no spark to the front bank. But that is one less item I need to worry about if the sensors don't do the job. Russ
