I'm bombing out on getting all the parts needed to completely rebuild my rear calipers. I've searched and read most of the Fchat threads on this and I'm aware of the 914/6 Porsche similarities on the rear calipers of my '83 308 QV. Though some items are still listed for the 914/4 at some parts places, nothing is available (anymore?) for the 914/6. My problem continues to be obtaining/locating ALL the additional seals, o rings, misc parts, etc. for the calipers. Local brake shops, Porsche dealers and on line show nothing available for the #3 & #4 items in my attached photo. These items do not show up on any parts blow ups which makes part identity harder at the venues.

I did get the rebuild kits for both fronts and rears from Nick Forza. Unfortunately, they only contained piston related seals and clip rings. The four squared o rings that go into the two caliper spacers (#4) and the white o ring seal for the piston adjusters (#3) were not included and I cannot find them anywhere. I'm afraid to take apart the handbrake lever assembly on the rear half of the calipers for fear of not getting those needed seals - which do not even show up in the Ferrari parts manual blow ups I have (on my CD's).

Nick Forza's kit also included 4 rubber rings (three of #1 & a #2) which I cannot figure out the location of on the caliper. Anyone know?

I may be able to find "generic" sized o rings (for #3 & #4) to substitue but that make me nervious.
Does anyone out there know a current source for these elusive items?
Has anyone reused the old seals (if they looked good) without problems?

My car has been on blocks for 3 weeks trying to get these parts to put back the brakes. I'm going nuts not being able to drive the car!!!!

Thanks for any help guys...........sorry for the long post.

As far as I am aware ATE don't advise splitting the calipers, hence the rebuild kits do not include the seals. If you took the old seals to a decent brake place, they should be able to find something that will work.

I highly recommend Karp's Power Brake - Ask for Ron

Thanks for your reply. Though I mainly took off the caliper because one piston was stuck, I split them because of visible rust around the piston seals and figured I'd have to lightly hone the bores, which I did. They came out great. The piston top and bottom oppositing edges are not in great shape but I think I can re-use them since the bore seal is between these wear zones. Note that the position of the wear indicates a slight cocking of the pistons that was present. (see attached photos)

I just found another really small o ring (#5) behind the outer adjusting screw. Please let this end soon!

I'll call your guy in upland.

I don't doubt that splitting them was the right thing to do. ATE just say not to, so decide not to make the seals readily available - really annoying IMHO. Of course, it may be the other way around - they don't have the parts so say not to split them :)

I have a 83QV too. Have you tried Pelican parts ? If you look thru their web site you can find the adj screw and that little o ring. Between superformance & Pelican I was able to rebuild my calipers. The only part that I could not find was the 4 (quad seals- o-rings )that goes inbetween the caliper halfs. If you find them let me know! The part #s I have from superformance Frount kit 5110F-3116F Rear 5111F-3167F Could not find the box from Pelican so no part #, sorry. I also replaced the bolts that hold the halfs together with stainless steel , the head on the org. bolts seem to strip easy. You also have to set your caliper piston at certain dergree (see pics.) Have 2500 miles on mine this season and so far no brake issues .Good Luck, if I can help let me know.

Last year I got a set of the quad seals for my front brakes from Rutland. I would suspect that they are the same for the rears. Give them a call. I didn't need to split the calipers so I have them laying around somewhere. I keep them in case I need to for some reason split a caliper.
