I have an 84 308 QV, Euro model and are experiencing a bit of a problem with the right hand radiator fan.
I know its supposed to come on independantly for the air con and jointly with the L/H fan for cooling.
I noticed today that it didn't come on for either.
After a bit of checking around i.e fuse box , connections etc , I finally worked my way down the the wire that goes into the fan motor at the front (behind the grill).
I moved this and it started working again, after a short drive I checked it and it had stopped working , again I moved it and it came back on but the problem keeps repeating itself.

How do I get this wire out , does it just pull or screw out as if it does , i think (hope) a clean up may solve the problem .
Has anyone experienced this before and does anyone have any solutions,
    Cheers
    Dave

do a search. look for 308 fan replacement. the fan of choice seems to be a hayden or you could go to a junk yard and pull one from a late model jap car. be sure to get a pusher. just take your measurements and go looking.

Its the fan off an old Jag. They are famous for the exact problem you are having. the wire to the brushs goes bad. You don't want to know how many I've replaced on my 'ol brit.

    2 choices:
    1) get a new one. Original and period correct, but costly.
    2) Get a supercool or hayden, cheap and work fine but incorrect.

Don't try to fix it. it'll just piss you off.

I got an "adjustable" fan from them and couldn't be happier.

The fan (...forget the model) is a universal fit and it took a little "elbow grease" to make it fit, but it has a themo that you stick into the (existing) upper rad hose and a box with a switch that allows you to adjust the time/temp it kicks on at...etc

Simply connect it to the battery, ground it, set the temp "on" you want and get on with your life.

Way easier than dealing with the stock thermo sitch, existing wiring, fuse panel, etc...just an option.

    Good luck

I thought $142 for a lil' lucas fan was good! LOL!

    and it fits the bracket..

Or you could spend all day modifying the car...that's ok too..................

Tha' local Ye Olde Jag Shoppe wanted $250 for the retail 205, so my guys bailed me out it's in the 'parts swap' thread somewhere.
