Well as a handful of you know, I'v been eyeing possible 308 victoms for me to take ownership of. I saw a very nice black GTS QV for sale and I like everything about that car except the rear bumper. I dont think its a deal breaker, but I'd like to know if there is some type of conversion package available for the 308 that might "water down" the rear bumper a bit.

You can drill the bumper shocks and push it in or replace it with a EURO bumper

You got to go with a euro bumper really. :) I've just replaced my rear bumper and it cost 450 GBP or so .... dunno what the USA prices are, presume comparable or slightly higher (guess, $650-700 ?)

Can you be more specific? What's wrong with the rear bumper? Just sticks out too far? No problem, it can be pushed in or replaced. I personally would push it in (you drill the shocks, push it in and either weld or pin the shocks in place.) This allows it to still work as a bumper, something you might be glad about if some turd bumps into you or the car rolls into something. A lot of people want to get rid of their bumpers and replace them with fiberglass Euro fakes or some such nonsense, and then forget that a 5 MPH bumper can save your car's butt in a minor accident. I personally am keeping my bumpers! (Magnum PI had bumpers, I can have bumpers!)

Yea you can push it in to the profile line, which IMO is where it probably was before the US made 'em hang it "way out there". I note that the exhaust tips are really the limiting factor on this as you would want the bumper to hit a brick wall before the tips!!! Drill shocks and tack weld as noted.

I hefted my rear bumper off the car and while the weight is considerable I am comforted in Houston SUV Mom traffic that I am carrying some defense into the fray!

Track guys in pursuit of the ultimate performance use the Euro bumpers, so to each his own........

We were dancing nekkid in the moonlight around the trash barrel fire last night Steven, but it was just to make the Hare Krishnas next door mad, they were watching out the window, I know! :)

There is an easy fix to that common problem - It's called a 328! :)

Just kidding guys - I love the 308's also. I'm just in a joking mood. :)

Well THEY put the trailer home there! Tough luck!

Cut down seven 100' tall oak trees just to get it "that far" from the fence line.

What dumb a$$es....they got a lot of "red tags" during construction, for some reason.........:)

Your bumpers are Fibreglass inside? Wow.

    Same rubberized coating?

    RE: fiberglass...

There is a company out west, I think in AZ, that advertises on eBay occasionally, and they make fiberglass replicas of the Euro 308 bumpers for about $350, which is a lot cheaper than a real Euro bumper. Although I have never seen one, I suspect they don't hold up well in a crash. This is just speculation though.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the Euro bumpers if you like that look.

My biggest complaint with the U.S. ones isn't the look but the weight. I fell in love with the 308 (in U.S. spec) when I was a kid so the bumpers are part of the look for me. I actually find the Euro bumpers not as attractive. To each his own. But I will say this...the U.S. bumpers are far better at absorbing bumps than the Euro bumpers. A 5 MPH "bump" with a U.S. bumper will not harm the car. I would bet that the same bump with a Euro front bumper would crinkle sheetmetal, so be careful! Since I have bad luck in cars (don't ask!) I'll keep the bumper!

Well I love the way the back of the 308 looks, I would just want alittle less bumper thats all, but I dont want to do away with it fully. For awhile I thought about putting a roll pan on my Dakota R/T, but after getting rear ended twice I decided Dodge put the bumper there for a good reason. I just dont want the rear bumper to look like I could fit my whole ass on it like its a bench or something thats all. The front on the other hand, I love how far it sticks out, why? I dont know... just looks sharp to me, maybe its because it makes it look more like an aero. *shrugs*

IF YOU REMEMBER WHO THEY ARE LET ME KNOW!! i had to send back the bumpers i bought . ( 4RRE PARTS, LLC) they were for a newer model and no way they would fit. i did get the euro valence from them ( see pics in my 308 thread) "my ferrari pcs and details" they were very nice to deal with, even with the wrong bumpers. damn and i need a euro grill and lights too........ dont forget all this stuff has to work together. thats why i have the old damaged valance on my car for now. ( at least its the right color, or i could drive around with the white unpainted valance !!!!! yuck)

I'm with you. I love the "pointy" look of the carb with the U.S. bumper.
