308 Rear Mirror - replace?

    Hi Mike

    I'm going to reach out to Verelle and see if he has any interest in making the part. It's injected molded, so maybe this is in his wheelhouse.

    I'll continue working on it, but I'm not sure I'll have a solution that keeps the repair inside the mirror housing.

    This was my thought process going into this. What I discovered is that the steel pin that goes through the dimmer tab is actually a spring; remove it and the dimmer function is gone. The up-side to taking it out is the repair tab (white plastic in pic) will stay in the slot and the mirror won't flop around.

    It appears to me that mine broke because someone adjusted the mirror while holding the tab.

    Like you said, it seems to be a silly design.

    I just cleaned my 308's mirror up :cool:. I used a plastic tool for scraping off silicone sealant I had lying around (a credit card might also do it). Prize off at the rear of the bezel and go around very carefully. The plastic will offer enough movement to free the glass & mirror from the rest of the housing. A quick wipe of mirror & glass and the difference is night and day.
