Just wondering if anybody has attempted to install power side mirrors on their 308. I have to manually adjust them for my wife on the rare occasion I let her drive!

I don't mind the hassle of wiring them up. I've had the doors apart mutiple times, and know them intimately!!

    TIA,
    Greg

Sure, but the trick will be how to intergrate the controller onto your armrest.

Also, the mirror units are "ferrari expensive" so probably not the cheapest mod you will ever do. Check Ferrari UK for parts prices. Will likely take your breath away....and change your mind that the manuals work "just fine".

    Dave,
I'm sure you're right. I catch myself daydreaming sometimes about how to "modernize" my 308. I should just stop that......

To further discourage you, the little joystick control switch (common to a BMW 5-series) is NLA from either Ferrari or BMW.

Guess you could rig up a controller switch from one of the Japanese imports tho. Maybe even find reasonable looking mirrors.

Just get a set of Vitaloni Californias, it is impossible so see anything in them so you wont have to worry about adjustment. I recently saw picture of niki lauda in a F1 with them I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. They look good though! As a matter of fact this is the exact view I have from them from inside the car, not kidding!!

I bet by the time you price the parts (what you can find) and the labor (unless you do it yourself), you'll just decide to keep reaching out and moving it by hand. You would be better off just putting that money towards your next belt change.

OK, OK, I give up! I'll just keep moving them by hand!

Actually, I have the larger, more square design mirrors, which provide pretty good rearward vision....

That's bad news. Or is it good news for your Unobtanium business?

I installed Vitaloni electric Turbo mirrors about 9 years ago. These were the stock mirrors on euro QV's. I had a accessory shop order them (about $90 each) and appears they were about the last ones in the states. I then was able to find a dual control "joystick" from an Alfa parts place. I installed the switch in place of the cigarette lighter and it fit perfectly w/o any mods. I believe all of these parts are NLA. The Turbo mirrors also came on 400i's I believe. Unfortunately, the original Ferrari mirrors cost about $500 each back about 9 years ago. You might be able to find mirrors on ebay. I also have a spare joystick switch that can be used for one or two mirrors if you are interested.

These mirrors are impossible to find at any price. They also fit BB Boxers .Ferrari UK sold out years ago.I would go with the non motor ones and customize.
