Hi, I am tracking down what I think should be a very simple ignition problem. I do however really struggle with electrics, I'm much happier with nuts and bolts!
My car is a single distributor carb 308 GTB (dry sump but I don't think that makes any difference to the ignition system). It has been modified somewhat but the only relevant change is to a Lumenition ignition system.
Anyhow, my question is whether it matters which way around the coil leads enter the distributor cap. By that, I mean one is above the other on the way in to the cap. I don't think so, but wanted to check.
    Many thanks.

It matters in that the coil lead for the 1-4 bank needs to connect to the center pole that "feeds" the spark to the outer terminals with the individual 1-4 cylinder spark plug wires (and same for the 5-8 bank).
