As the title already states after what seems to be an eternity (2years) I finally got around to getting my 1980 308 back on the road. A couple years ago the timing belt jumped a tooth or two and you as guessed valves hit pistons and the rest is history. I sent the car out out to Nick Scianna at Forza Ferrari (great guy and one of the most helpful people out there--very highly recommended). So after a couple of months he finally got the motor running with a few upgrades-new pistons, new valves, electronic ignition and fuel injection, new suspension amongst other things. He and he buddy have spent countless hours on getting my car back on the road. Here are a few pictures of the work he has done so far as well as a video

Curious as to how much $$$ the TEC injection system ran you?

About 5k. But I probably would have spent half that if not more to get myCIS up to snuff because it needed a rebuild. Also it comes with the electronic ignition

Several of us have also considered replacing the CIS system with something more modern and tuneable.

Please post details concerning this aspect of your rebuild project for our benefit once you've gotten the car back.

By any chance was a dyno run made with the engine somewhere along the line? If so, horsepower results?

    Cheers - DM

This is the CIS to FI conversion I've been doing for 2yrs, this recent one uses a clean pushlock hose system (rated @ 5kpsi) well over anything we use it for. I have it designed for both 2v and 4v engines including the 3.2.

the Bosch CIS is a simple system and is shared across the industry, so the parts will work on any CIS equipped engine.

on the last 3.2 I employed a tube sleeve nut assy w/ 0.250" SS tube. a very time consuming project to bend and fab the lines approx 90hrs! I'll see If I can dig up a post wit the pic, I'm out of upload space at the moment :( my fault, need to pay the dues to rob.

Fun Fact, the fuel distribution block is wire cut due to complexity, I'll post a pic of the reverse cut from the stock when the shop stops playing with it!

These setups are available thru Nicks Forza Ferrari.

Also in development is a new sanden/denso A/C relocation for a twin blower setup, but also available to those who replace the CIS, it makes the belt service and tuning far easier.

I think that we'd all be interested to know a rough order-of-magnitude cost for such FI work, as well as an estimate of the resulting horsepower increase!

    Thanks and Cheers - DM

Wow, looks really nice. It seems like it's a common story on here for guys to spend a couple years getting a motor rebuilt and back to driving.

So, what's the record minimum time, for someone to pull a 3x8 motor, rebuild, and get their car back on the road? I know, slow and steady wins the race, just curious....

We did some tuning on the weekend while driving the car, here is a quick clip below of how it is sounding. The car just runs so cool with our radiator & water pump & the TEC GT engine management system compared to a stock injected 2 valve 308.

I just picked up a LM2 wideband AFR unit so we can do some more tuning while driving. I would like to think that we got another 30-40 hp over stock by how it feels, I am hoping to get it on the rollers before it leaving the shop here in Washington. It has been a great project for Scott & myself to work on, taking a car that was pretty much dead & making it alive & happy again.

The suspension is just being finished up at this time, new Forza coil overs, all new suspension bushings, brake calipers rebuilt etc.

The Tec GT engine management system has been great to work with, it is much less in cost than the TEC 3R & allot less wires.
