    Just put a 308 back together and it stalls in reverse but only when the clutch is let out. No problem in 1st gear. Idles smooth. Have not got it out on the road yet as I fear getting stranded while performing diagnostics. Any ideas for this newbie's odd dilemma? Thanks!

    linkage is adjusted wrongly

    My guess would be that you're in both reverse and 1st at the same time. Re-work that linkage.
