I use an FM modulator, but where I live, there are a ton of vacant radio channels. One reason is I wanted to keep the original tape deck. I also figured that even with a CD player, the speakers are 80's technology and unless you were upgrading the speakers, whats the point of adding a CD player? With the FM modulator I can plug in just about any thing and play it through the factory speakers and it sounds fine.

Also...with the modulator, I don't need to raise and lower the finicky radio antenna and put wear and tear on the antenna motor to pick up a station.

    Just my 2 cents

I am just looking at some point to install a radio. I just want one that I can plug in my ipod and/or play cds. If I have that I am good. I dont really care about the radio - its all pretty much crap anyway...

I put a JVC KD-S79BT in my 308, and I'm very happy with it (Walmart, about a hundred bucks). It is easy to use, and it handles anything I want to use for sources. You can play MP3s and other formats with a thumb drive, plug in an iPod, or stream with BlueTooth with phone or iPod. The stereo comes with a BlueTooth adaptor, which plugs into the front, but some models have it built into the radio. I have a similar setup in my Jeep, a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH, which can do the same things but I hate it. The menu system is terrible, and the display is almost impossible to read in sunlight (even with adjustments).

I have a Kenwood in my 308 GT4 and there is a long thread about all my headaches. I was using Packard solid core wire on my plugs, It worked great and probably the best for any early car, but was not good for any radio or stereo signal. If you can the best guy in the world for stereos in Ferraris is in our backyard.

Here is the thread about my long saga! I love the Kenwood and especially the MP3 input as I have 1000 high quality songs at my finger tips. It has high power but needs a power amp to play the volume I want from being in an old rock band
