I have an 83 308 GTS. The sticker on the car indicates 225-55 for the rear tires. Tire Rack as well as other suppliers say the reccomended size is 225-50. Which is it?

Hello Thomas, welcome to the forum! Tire Rack has it correct - 205/55-16 on front, and 225/50-16 on the back.

Here's a photo of my windshield sticker for the tire information, listing 225/50-16. I'd be interested to see a photo of your sticker.

Never seen or heard of that before

Trust Ferrari to send cars out with a misprinted sticker (I'm guessing there were never 225/55 on 308)

I'm not sure using that rear tire size would be a good idea - when Ferrari offered the staggered 16" sizes as an option to the same-size-all-around 14", the front and rear tires still kept the identical diameter, even though the width was different. Tire Rack will let you check the specifications on all tires they sell, it is likely you'll find that the 225/55 is a larger diameter than the 225/50 and the front 205/55.

What tires are you planning to get?

I'll probably go with the 225-50s unless I hear anything new. It's odd that the sticker would be a typo though. Anyone else have the same issue?

Further on the discussion of tire diameters for staggered sizes - using the BFG G-Force Sport Comp-2 as an example, the 205/55 diameter is 24.9"; the 225/50 diameter is the same 24.9" diameter; the 225/55 has a 25.8" diameter.

Just another footnote. The owners manual clearly shows 225-50 for the rear tires. The data on the visor is definitely a misprint.

I'll disagree ;) -- 225/50 at the rear look too small to me on the 308B/S coachwork. I ran 225/55 on my ex-308 at the rear (when they were available), and liked them fine (both visually and operationally). Later on, could only get 225/50...

Welle I'm french, so perhaps not the most qualified person to detect typos in English, but at school, in my English lessons, I do know that I would have been fined had I wrote "weight" "weigt", such as the last word on your window sticker...;)

I tend to agree with Mr. Magnusson, the car currently hes 225/50s on the rear and they always looked a bit small. It's also interesting that the speedo has always been off on the high side. I attributed that to the 50s being fitted.
