Hi, I've got a 1980 308 GTS euro, and from reading here on the forum I decided to change the trans fluid to redline 75w90ns. I was wondering if there is a filter that needs to be changed when the fluid is changed.

    Thanks in advance.

No, just wipe the fuzzies off the drain plugs (remember there are 2).

I have in my notes that 5 quarts will more than enough. You'll know it's full when it starts coming out the drain plug on the vertical edge of the pan (car level).

    Sound right?

Yep! put the bottom plug in, leave the main plug on the rear of the gearbox out and fill it through the transfer case fill hole until it reaches the rear hole. I used a little funnel that I ran some nylon tubing to and then tied it to the rear deck lid to hold it up.

how often should you change the gear lube in the transaxle?

I probably should because I don't know when it was changed last, but in the future, should I go by years or miles?

Doug, owners manual says inspect every 7.5k miles and replace every 15k miles for normal guys. As i track the car here often and do a 8k miles total yearly, my mechanic said i should r/r it twice a year due to the very hard shifting/use.
