Mark- Have to love it when physics and space come together and you get the perfect solution for free. Forget what I said about 6-2-2. Too many beers. The 575M went to 6-1-1 and straight intermediate pipes for Model year 2004. Better sound and more horsepower. Great to see some hardware again after you potentially solved the ignition/injection issue. Really want to hear this engine run. 9000 rpm has to sound like an FXX, somewhat muffled. Exhaust bypass valves or not? Taz Terry Phillips
Sometimes life is good. I'm still thinking about a custom ecu as a lunch time project and I've started kind of specing it out a bit. http://www.diyefi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=734 Me too! I don't know on the by pass.....I'm thinking no for the first go and see what I have.
The design an ECU project is officailly back on because it's a good project that will benefit a lot of people even if it takes longer than my timeline. So, it you or anyone you know can write code this is your chance to help SAVE THE WORLD form poor perfoming or over priced ECUs The project is called FreeEMS+ and I'm kicking off here: http://www.diyefi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=734 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138897989#post138897989 This will be an open source, open design ECU designed to be God's gift to the performance car world. It will have the power to run anything that could possibly pop into anyone's head and will be under $1000 to put together, probably well under. It will have 24 fuel outputs and 12 ignition, do traction control and anything else your hear could desire. This is the big bother to FreeEMS which is a much more cost conscious version that can be built for about $200 and should be operational in the next 3-6 months. This is basically a MS with all the problems and short falls corrected. It will have 12 ignition outputs, 6 primary fuel, and 6 staged fuel output. It will be ideal of a 6 cyl but able to run a 12cyl. If you can help, please sterp up, if you have freidn please sign them up. It's a good project that will be good for all of us.
+1, no more boring ECU talk ... heck probably 50% of us work in the cr@p industry called IT. We need you to continue our therapy and weld and machine something that is REAL ... Pete
The Solar Flux B works very well. I have used it many places where purging wasn't practical. Mix it up with some alcohol, paint it on thick, and TIG away. Doug
Pete, If you know anything at all about C++ I will make a deal with you. I will post at least 1 new picture at leasdr 5 nights a week for you therapy if you go sign up to help program the new ecu. What do you say? I've new got pictures in the cameraaaa I'll keep most of the ecu stuff on the ecu forum and thread
I haven't written C++ code for about 5 years, but I have written stuff with it so maybe able to help a little ... You need somebody to design the program and then it can be farmed out, but without the "designer" setting direction you'll never make it fly. Best Pete
Pete. YOU ARE THE MAN! I think I might have that person coming on board.....I just need to beg a little more. The ECU stuff will be happening here: http://diyefi.org/ and try to register and I will alert them that they need to make this happen right now. Here's the directions to register (they are trying to keep span out so registration is by personal email If you are looking to sign up, please email me at fred (dot) cooke (at) gmail (dot) com and include your desired username and temporary password. I'll try to get it done ASAP and notify you when the account is ready. Thank you for your patience, this was necessary given the volume of spammers at the moment. Shoot them an email, and get signed up. 1 or 2 more and we will have critical mass!
As promised Pete I popped the "headers" off tonight so you can see what the front one is going to look like. I also sawed the material for the flanged.....I'm a like disappointed in mcmaster today. It looks like the 3/8" x2" SS they sent was sheared out of plate and is not in any way flat really. I'm going to have to mill the gasket side. Looking good Mark. You're engine will be running much sooner than mine. Sorry to hear about the SS flange material. Have you checked out Online Metals? I've been ordering from them for a while. http://www.onlinemetals.com/ T...
Este es el mejor post del ferrarichat,y merece estar en la 1ª posicion Forza i avanti Saludos...Cuoghi P.S. colega, me tienes "aluzinado" soy mecanico y te digo !!OLE TUS COJONES!!
Mark my experience with manifold flanges , is not to worry about how flat it is now !! When you are ready to weld , bolt it to that 1" thick work bench of yours ( or a suitably thick piece of steel ) with all the manifold stud holes and weld it up . When you are finnished find someone with a long enough belt linniser and " sand " that flange flat , believe me being stainless it's going to walk all over the place .

Rough translation: This is the best post of ferrarichat, and deserves to be in the 1st position Strongly forward Saludos ... Cuoghi (?) P.S. colleague, I have "aluzinado" I'ma mechanic and I tell you! Ole tus cojones!! (Big cajones!)
Red car has something wrong other than tuning so it hasn't left yet....and no header tubing is allowed until red car goes. Cam guy is ....well....cam guy and I haven't heard boo. I'll call him monday. I promised Pete no boring ECU talk on this thread and that is what I've been working on getting rolling. I've got about 6-8 people talked into helping on it and I was trying to run the project on diyefi.org but this morning I finally just told the leader over there to go pound sand...what a F*****G D**K. This part of the project will continue on it's own web site that is just starting to come live. If you want to follow it or better yet help: http://www.openecu.info/ Hopefully I'll be buying pipe and making headers very soon.
You and the team are going to develop your own ECU? A latter day megasquirt only with the mk e seal of approval?
Ya know I've got a guy I'm going to turn onto your page there. He is the tuner we had at the performance shop I used to work at. This guy is an ECU wizard. I'm going to get him on your page, let me know when you have it up and going. Laters, Brian
Yes, but to get the mk e seal of approval it needs to be the best in ecu. We're aiming at beating every Motec spec....a meagasquirt is only suitable for a 1 cylinder application IMO Go to the web site and check out the specs on the mk e ecu....it's got a MPC5554 processor so it's called 5554. We hope to have it running lyckydynes's 308 in the spring.
All help is welcome....it's a big job but I think it will be worth the effort. There is a forum over there for anyone who wants to join in or make suggestions. It will be an open design, open source ECU so anyone can download the drawings and software an make their own. I will probably make finished board available and maybe finished/tested unit too for those who just want to buy and go....a finished unit would be about $1000-$1500 I'd guess as this is top shelf everything from the fastest processor out there to the aircraft connectors.
