Yeah. I was thinking about a or or better yet a slot....but honestly I just wasn't in a very creative mood last night though so I just copied the flange on the QV headers and stopped there. I've still got a few days before the tubing gets here and I need for all that extra weight to bother me to where my OCD will make me mill slots to save the 15-30g......
I shot an email to Borla today asking for input on muffler selection. They got back to me in about 30 minutes and agreed that a pair of 40575 was the best choice, These mufflers are multi core, they support big horsepower without being obnoxiously loud. I've had borlas on several cars in the past, including the QV and have always been happy with them so I think I'm just going to trust that they know what they're doing and that the mufflers cost what they cost becasue you get what you pay for and go with the Borla's.
Hah! You were wrong wrong wrong. The folks at SPD mailed the receipt for the stuff I bought from them and it arrived this weekend. Lana just asked if it was a new bill or a copy of an old one and then rolled her eyes .hardly even got a reaction even after I told her there was another bill for a tad more on its way.
The burns box came today. Hopefully the SPD box will be here tomorrow Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Haha! But what does she have in the works? Maybe its a new $500 purse and $450 pair of shoes she will wear once. She's loading up on the amo. Hahahaa!
OK Mark, it's all shiny and all, but what are those things? Burns box, SPD box??? Please enlighten me.
I shouldn't be looking at all this stuff. Only puts weird ideas in my head. Mark, what's the latest on the cam saga? Is his guarantee as long as his lead-time?
Chris, There is nothing technical about the Burns box...it's the box of exhaust tubing I ordered from Burns. Same for the SPD box.
LOL, good one! The results were due 2 weeks ago, then last Monday...I emailed on Wed and got no response...I emailed yesterday and have gotten no response so far. I've got a motnth of header building then another month of intake port moving....hopefully I hear by then.
Here you go. I removed at least an ounce maybe 2! The rest of the pipe came today and the flanges are finished and cleaned up so I guess tomorrow the header building begins. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Last night I decide that after 2 years and with at least another year to go it would probably be OK if I stacked the wheels in the corner out of the way instead of standing in the aisle at their corners waiting to go back on the car. As I rolled the tires to the corner I noticed the strangest thing, the front tires looked almost new but the rear tires were nearly worn to the tread markers. I wonder what could have caused that? Hopefully what ever it was get considerably worse when this rolls back out
I know it's been a long time, but I have pictures of welding again! First up was getting getting the pipe into the flange.....and it wasn't happy about it. I crushed it oval, but the pipe is a tad larger than the port so I had to add some slits to taper it slightly. Next was making the tube go here I'm thinking it needs to go. I cut a piece of hose to the finished length so I could keep track of where I was. I got it kind of done....then threw most if it out and started over. Take 2 looks pretty good I think. I still need to cut it to length and actually weld it, but I'm calling it 1 down, 11 to go. looks very good, nice work as always genius! I cant wait to read the Forza article on this one! Cheers, Paul
Mark, Absolutely splendid thread. However, I don't like relief cuts that will be welded up? Possibly to show beyond flange? Will you use strengthening gussets to hide them?. This seems like plastic mallet and anvil horn work to me. You have 12 go- no go gauges. Are you incorporating reversion dams in the flange head joint or is this theory passe? Really admire the fortitude.
