I would not have thought this were possible unless I had actually seen it today. V12 400i engine in a 308 with still useable boot (trunk). Car shortly up for auction at Brooklands on 19th May. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wasn’t there a huge build thread in this a (long) while ago? Can’t remember what the performance stats and handling/weight were. Interesting to see what auction result is... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ignore my last ref thread, had assumed this was a US conversion, not the Mansell car. Still interesting to see what it makes.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Am at the London Motor Show on 17th but probably can’t get out to Brooklands to viewing- would like to have seen the 3.2 mondi for condition vs estimate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, but it was Nigel Mansell - who was Ferrari’s F1 driver - who owned the garage that did the conversion. It is claimed/said that his relationship with Ferrari got him access to the engine which not otherwise be provided without a chassis no to fit it too. I was thinking of a guy in the States who was doing this himself about 2-3 yrs ago maybe. I thought that was maybe a TR engine... more modern than a 364/400 anyways. About the time someone put in a 355 motor??? My memories rubbish (young kids) but I seem to remember it was a big thread.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is a 355 engined 308 in the UK, I have seen it a couple of times. Longitudinal installation so the boot was removed.
Yeah I think that’s the one I remember. And wasnt someone cutting a V12 up / reengineering at some point to make it go longitudinal and fit a transverse gear box?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
