Don't know if it's been posted before? Here's an interesting car. Looks like the wheelbase has been stretched.. Ferrari 308 Gtsi | eBay
Might as well get the Fiero based 308 with the V8 and save 30K. I think he's optimistic with pricing. I always question ebay ads that don't have the picture pac option that allows large hi res images-its only an extra two bucks. The cheap parts store air cleaner is also terrible.
Why on earth would you want (to fit) a non-Ferrari engine in a Ferrari ?? If it was about horsepower, maintainance cost and reliability (not really an argument in this context) you wouldn't want to buy a 308 in the first place now, would you ?? I don't see the point in driving such a car, having to wear sunglasses, hat and raincoat all of the time..
Who knows what they started with. Could have been a salvage car. In any event I like it and it is certainly a better fate that the Jesse James 308 Pasta Machine. I bet it's a blast to drive. Looks well done too. Wouldn't mind having a Z06 powered 355 either.
It would make a great spare parts car. I am guessing it sounds like a Camaro and has a lot of oversteer. I wonder what the weight balance is with a SBC behind ya? After all his work, the SBC looks like an industrial engine, the bay and installation looks very baron. I would have expected a better ignition system, valve covers, then he topped it off with a Cal Custom air cleaner. Any guess what he did for exhaust?
The biggest downside I see with it is that the present or future owner won't be able to engage in cam belt discussions here.
The long wheelbase really proportions the car in a more modern way, especially with the nose down stance. In as much as I am not a fan of modifications generally, this lwb looks good in sideview.
Please someone explain to me how this conversion was accomplished. Still has a trunk and the engine is in a longitudinal position. What was stretched and where was it stretched? Was the rear hatch lid stretched as well? Looks amazing to me. Edit: thanks Mike
Robert, isn't that mounted longitudinal? Anyway I don't know what's worst, Fiero with a 308 body or this 308 with Chevy motor? Personally, I'll take the 308 wether the Chevy motor. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A SBC is only about 24" long without accessories (alt, water pump, etc). They most likely used at setup similar to 911 engine conversions where the relocate the accessories on the front of the engine and use a remote electric water pump. They then mate the engine to a Porsche G50 and the half shafts of the G50 have a forward angle to them. This one might not since they seem to have moved the wheels back. Not unlike all the GT40 remakes out there or Lamborghini kit car setups. Not overly difficult to do. Just need the desire to do it.
