Hey guys....new to this...I am in the market for a 308 GTS/ GTSi for a play car.... just to drive on an occasional weekend for fun. Doesn't need to be "mint"

any comments on what years are best? any problems? carbs vs. injected?

    I was thinking early 80's "i" version.
    Thanks!

    What's your budget?

'80-'82 injected cars are the cheapest and slowest. Most people either like the '84-'85 quattrovalvole cars which are more refined, or the pre-cat carb'ed cars for their rawness/sound. Emissions controls killed the 308 in the late '70s/early '80s, and 205bhp on an '80 308 doesn't make for neck-snapping acceleration...

308's all have weak electrical systems. Rustproofing started only in '84. Air conditioning is a joke. Power windows slow then fail. Etc.

Lots of threads on this topic - as Greg said, check the 308/328/Mondial section for a year's worth of reading. They're great cars - some people on here plan to keep theirs forever. I'd nudge you toward a 328, budget permitting, because I think they're better in many respects. But a 308 is certainly a landmark, famous Ferrari you can be proud of.
