Hi! This is my first post so I apologize for any breeches in etiquite. I have a 1980 308 GTSi. One of the first fuel injected versions of the model. Lately, as I've been driving I've had a few problems with starting it after I've run the car. When its cold, it fires right up every time. When I try to restart it after driving for any period of time, It has a hard time firing. The engine cranks but it won't turn over. I had a problem about a year ago with a dirty ground on the fuel pump that caused it not to fire but this seems like a different issue. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
EZ fix, replace your fuel Accumilator. about $ 190 for the part if you shop around. lots of info on this site, do a search. I had the exact same problem. Mark
I think the fuel pump check valve will give the same symptom. Before replacing the accumulator, pull off the vent line and see if there is fuel in it. If not, the accumulator is probably ok.
Thanks! I'll try both areas. Sounds like should be a pretty easy remedy. I was at a FOC USGP Party today . . . We had 150 cars including a couple of amazing classics. It was pretty embarassing, it took about 10 cranks to get mine started. I dont feel too bad, there was a 275 GTB that was smoking pretty bad rolling down the road. . . probably not as easy a fix! Thanks again! Tripp
