I've had some freinds nagging me that I need to replace the weatherstripping in my spare tire compartment on my '83 GTS QV, because they think someone has cut it and removed some of it. I've seen one picture where it looks as if originally it only goes half way around and the parts manual is inconclusive.

Can anyone tell me what is original?

BTW what is the proper term for that panel? normally I would call it a hood but that just doesn't seem right. (I call the rear bonnet the engine cover)

The partition between the radiator area and the spare area is sealed by a foam piece on the lid and the rubber strip on the opening seals the other 3 sides. That is how it should be.

The front lid, bonnet, trunk,? Call it whatever you like.
