A couple of weeks ago I posted a request in Showroom for a picture of a 308 with 355 wheels. No response, so I thought I'd post it here. There's lots with 360 wheels, and even a couple with 348 wheels... but how about 355 wheels? I know I could photoshop it, but I'd like to see a picture of a real one that someone's set up that way.

    Anyone...?

You would need really wide spacers for them to work. I don't recommend doing this to a 308. I had a 355 and a 308 in the shop the other day and tried to fit one on for the 308 customer, it was not even close.

It's done with 360 wheels frequently... are the 355 wheel offsets that much different?

I'm pretty sure that the 355 and 360 offsets are pretty similar and they both need monster spacers to run on a 308. I don't know if there is anything wrong with monster spacers or not from a safety or stress on the hub point of view. What about unsprung weight?

Too wide a spacer is not good for the suspension geometry of the car. You will get a alot of bump steer, the scrub radious will change , and you will put heavy loads on the outer portion of the wheel bearings. I would stay away from doing things like this to any car. Yes they look great, but its not worth the sacrafice in ride and saftey.

I can see that being the case if you use spacers to push the wheels out. However, if you're only using spacers to properly adjust for offset, still keeping the wheel centerline approximately where it was before, you're not changing much geometry. Of course, with 360 and 355 wheels you'd also be putting more rubber on the ground and having shorter sidewalls for better handling, though a bit rougher ride.

I have a picture of a 328 with 3 piece versions of the 355 challenge wheels but I can't reduce the photo. If you want to see that, let me know.

That's true if the spacer is used to move the centerline of the wheel. If the centerline end-up where the factory intended, then the loads and geometry are unchanged, and that is really the case here. The spacer is just used to get the offset of the wheel to match what the car is designed for.

The 355/360 rear wheels are pretty wide. To get them on you NEED to replace the rear springs with a set of 2.5" ID aftermarket springs, and even them it's really tight.

I put 550 wheels on mine and the rears are 10.5"...but to get them to work I had to move the lower shock mount. in a bit, no spacer needed though. The fronts needed a 25mm spacer to get the offest ride as OEM is 11mm and the 550 wheels are 46mm....I think the front 355/360 are about 46 too, but I'm not positive.

Thank you! Now is it just me, or does that look a LOT better than a 308 with 360 wheels?!?
