That company no longer exists, Electromotive. We're looking at other options. The beauty of that unit was it was ignition only and used dip switches to keep it simple. Everything on the market is now PC or App connect for tuning/control and also includes fuel. That increases costs and complexity.
Electromotive USED to make an even better unit called the HPV1. It had all the dip switches, coils mounted to a single board. No separate brain and coils and wiring everywhere to deal with. Every once in a while they can be found in ebay but it's rare and hens teeth to find a V8 unit now.
I've got one, I think Nick has a couple. They do fail over time though. Potted circuits make it a touch difficult to repair.
At the moment, not that I'm aware of for general resale to the avg consumer. I do believe there's stand alone units that one can program and build themselves but that does require knowing more then the usual plug and play most end users want. It's also an odd request to the various tuner mfg, not many engines these days looking for ignition only, that's more common to carb fueling. And vehicles with carbs by and large have dizzy's that can be electronic hei upgraded thus negating an ignition box need.
smg2 - do you know if it is possible to convert a 1985 QV car with Digiplex 803a boxes to MSD? If so, any details??? I have searched forums and haven't seen this conversion. Thanks
I don't keep up on that style of conversion to MSD, pertronix was the go-to. But it's long been a search problem on this site to find anything.. outside Google search is better. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/308-points-conversion.281624/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/308-electronic-conversion.153740/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/aftermarket-ignition-summary.150943/
Sure is. There’s a few out there. It’s typically a box that you setup the ignition curve on your laptop, which is super easy as it’s just ignition and not fuel. The box fires wasted spark either Ford or Bosch (Ferrari) coil packs. Just need a 36-1 or 60-2 wheel on your damper and a sensor and you’re good to go. https://motorsport-electronics.co.uk/products/ignition-only-systems/nodiz-pro/
smg2, I've got an XDI-2 on my 3.4L and my new build Lotus 26R. Do you know anybody who wants to get rid of their XDI-2 or has Electromotive accessories like a programming cable. My new laptop no longer has a serial port to program/monitor. Is there a USB cable that will do the job? Is the only alternative to find a USB to serial port adapter?
They have been in business a long time. Too much orphaned EFI and ignition stuff out there. SDS EM-5: CPI (sdsefi.com)
Hello. this week bought a 1979 308 GTB with this engine upgrades:Sprint pack» including P6 cams, 42 DCNF Weber carburetors, Borgo HC pistons, matt black cam cover, four exhaust pipes, stamped Ferrari. - 16" Speedline wheels fitted with Pirelli P7 and i can confirm, is very mutch streetable and pull like a train, it is loud tough.
My Michelotto grp iv came with a couple of sets of these quick change gear kits. I was told you can actually insert each set upside down to change the ratios too. Really cool tech details…
Finally got around to listing my sprint pack pistons on ebay item 134869175668. Maybe someone will want some spares? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Sorry this is a bit of a delayed (2 years) and off topic response but the red 308 in #8 post is 1 number later than mine UPB621S to UPB622S in the post. Mark
