Has any one heard of a 1983 308 Zender? My business partner said that he had one and I can't find any info on it. He said three cars were factory tuned with twin turbos. Very fast and very expensive. He had the car about 6 years and then sold it for a huge sum of money. Any info? His was black.

Thanks for the picture. Does anyone know anything about the car? Price? I was told that there was a Silver, Black and Red car built this way. Any info?

Well, a lot of crap is told about how many Ferraris were built. How does this person know how many were built? Where did he get this information from?
Did Zender himself give it to him in writing? Be sceptical here.

The pearl white car in the picture is indeed a Zender conversion (in the Netherlands). I've seen this car many times myself. Kroymans, the official importer back then, had a really hard time re-selling it. Finally, after it had been re-painted in re-sale red, they got rid of it. My impression was that the fact that the car was modified made the sale more difficult instead of making the car more desirable.

My personal opinion is that a stock Ferrari will sell easier and might even be worth more than a modified Ferrari. OK, the conversion will probably have been expensive indeed back then (Zender is a German company, as well as the better known Koenig Specials), but after all these years the added value will be small or even make the car worth less!

So, just don't get too impressed by the comments of the seller...

Good luck in finding a nice Ferrari!

Lars, how can you hint that this car could be worthless? Let me be sceptical of you.

Right now, huge fees are being paid for Yenko, Baldwin and Shebly-modified american domestics. While modified Ferraris, such as the Koenig and Zender car have yet to bloom, I think they are distinct examples, which in the future may garner more attention, and have more stories, than your standard spec unit.

    Dear Ferraristi,

A modified ( cosmetically ) Ferrari will definately lose value over an unmolested car. I sold my 80 308 for a higher price because I had original paint even though it was full or normal scratches and stone chips...but it was an untouched car.

Long time ago I owned a Koenig Specials Porsche 928 S4....Ha Ha Ha....lost a ton of money there.

Buy a great original ( at least "un-cutting torch") red 308...enjoy and sell for the same or higher to the next guy who grew up watching Magnum PI (like me :) )

Listen to Lars. He knows what hes saying. First of all don't compare a Shelby with a Zender. And remember, these "Big" numbers that these cars go for on "Barrett Jackson" are unique examples and are NOT the norm. Barrett Jackson and E-bay don't dictate the markets. Buy a stock Ferrari and you'll be much happier in the long run.

Lars may know his dollars and cents, but I will not let him hamper my appreciation for Zender, Koenig or any other modified car.

Does anyone have a list of modifications that were made to these 308s?

Thanks for the info guys. I am not looking to buy this car, in fact if I was to buy a Ferrari it wouldn't even have custom wheels on it. But the point to this post was "What do you know about these cars" not "Should I buy this car". Does anyone have any info on these cars, stats, prices, etc? Thanks.

I guess no one was ever able to tell you anything. I guess its your opinion or the highway! For every opinion there is an opposite opinion, whether you agree or disagree. But I see in your stubborn way, your always right. I had a boss like that once. I eventually bought out his company and fired him. Good luck! By the way, my son, who is "SEVEN" years old tells me "Stop telling me what to do".
Fill out your infomation, so we know who you ARE!

My 7 year old says that a lot to her older sister.
