Can anyone tell me, where i can get a new starter solenoid for a FIAT starter motor as fitted to my 1976 Dino. I have tried some Ferrari stockists, and have been told that almost all of the starters fitted were made by Bosch, but that they are aware of there being some FIAT ones out there as well although they have never ever seen one! Would a solenoid have been made which is interchangeable with other FIAT starter motors made in the 70's such as a FIAT Dino or perhaps a LANCIa Beta Montecarlo? Can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Sir Marco

It is my understanding that US cars of that vintage use a Bosch starter. The solenoid can't possibly be exclusive to that car. Something else had to have used it as well. I would pull it and take it to a starter or alternator rebuilding shop and see if they can find something.

Well i took out the starter in my 75 Gt4 and had it rebuilt and they installed a solenoid from China and it lasted 1 start up, and it was a time consuming job, so i removed the starter and changed the soleniod to a bosch ( the local parts store had it in stock ) with out pulling the starter all the way out of the chassis,Now it cranks like a monster,The thing with these starters are the floating plate that could have play, which is the exact plate that are used on old Opels, as long as the armature is not cooked your starter can be rebuilt and the bosch solenoid is a real heavy duty piece.Good luck , also I added a ground wire which was a good idea.
