    I'd like to take my radio out to clean it... I believe it is the original one, and I'm fine with keeping it for nostalgic purposes even though my car is far from concours original... The problem is, I don't see any obvious way to get the little bugger out! Is disassembling the center console involved?

    Try removing the front section of the console, the part down were your toes are that is about 12" long. That will allow you to drop the radio into the console and then pull it forward and out of the front end. It can be pretty tight but it can be done.
