Can anyone decode the old serial numbers? I have number F106AL10824 on a 1975 GT4 and was wondering how you tell from the vin if its 308 or 208, US or other? Anyone have a link to a site with this kind of info.

    Thanks Chris

    Hi Chris:

To reply. I am a fellow 1975 GT4 owner S/n 10564. There are many experts that can answer your question, and they will be popping
up soon to this thread. Having only owned my 75 for a year, I have used this forum, but I ALSO go to the Dino GT4 Registry.

Peter will be very happy to answer your registry questions. He is very friendly, and knowledgable.
Looking at the registry, it would appear your S/n is 10824, a 308 GT4, I am guessing.
Hope that this helps, and good luck

It looks like we're pretty close in VIN#s, mine is 10896! (75 GT4)

I'm pretty sure that the F106AL indicates that it is a US spec 308 engine.

I believe they are all designated F106AL, euro and US alike...

As far as I know, there is no way to tell which is a 208 and which a 308.

According to Peters register, 10824 is a 308...

    Hello

    According to Alan Henry's "Ferrari Dino 246,308 & 328" 308 GT4 are engine numbers F106AL, and 208 GT4 are F106C.

I do not have enough Dino knowledge to know that he's correct or not, but much of his book seems reasonable and proper.

tinyurl/amazon.com link to that book is http://tinyurl.com/bnvhjd

    Cheers!
