Does anyone here know the correct model number for a 308GT4 york a/c compressor? I am to replace the original one on my 75 GT4.
According to the York Compressor Service Manual -- york.pdf (240.se) -- the shape of the shaft end indicates compressor displacement. If you still have your old compressor, you can compare the shaft end to determine what compressor you need. Here is the diagram from page 17 of the Service Manual: Image Unavailable, Please Login If you don't have your original compressor, it is probably the same as the GTS/GTB compressor which is the 206 model. The 206 and 210 models look physically identical. The only difference is the throw of the crankshaft. If you use a 210 model it will pressurize the system more quickly and will therefore cycle on and off more frequently causing additional wear to the clutch. I don't believe there would be any cooling benefit to using the bigger compressor. Here are the specifications for the various models from page 2 of the Service Manual: Image Unavailable, Please Login As a side note, notice the description on this table regarding "Lubrication". There is a hole into the crankcase on the suction side of the pump. Crankcase oil is circulated through the system.
