I'll try to get one, of that cute lil' tatoo that peeks out over her belt, in the back...... Her gf that flew in from Boston was TOTALLY inked..... Now she has one in from Portland, that has huge brown eyes..central Asian I think.. Thanks Verell, I think the shaft linkage is a good thing to inspect...I'll get some heavier grease worked into the shaft bushings!
I believe only soldered joints are allowed, max three per length. And IIRC a wiring electrical repair would void IFR certification. But dont quote me.
I have a challenging penetrant application and I couldn't remember or find the name of this product you guys had mentioned . .. I'm getting some this time . .. I've got another BBQ'd 308 motor to tear apart and have tried everything in the book except this stuff . .. I got some "CLP Breakaway" by mistake thinking it was the stuff you guys had mentioned . .. the write up on the product seemed like it might work miracles but it didn't seem to help . . . anyone have experience with the CLP for comparison? I also bought the whole range of products from the local Kragen and went thru Mcmaster Carr looking for something. KROIL seemed like it worked miracles for some guys compared to all these other products right? Thanks, Sean
So, do the seals have some kind of bushing that supports shaft?? My knowledge in this area is almost ZIP. I know the shifting is high effort and unsatisfactory at speed on the track. As i work my way through the systems of the car, i am always looking for an updated or improved part, so i bought Verell's Shift Shaft Bushings and am looking forward to installing them. I was waiting untill i had the joy of experiencing a shift shaft seal leak, (as almost all owners seem to eventually do) to make the replacement, now it seems that it might be beneficial sooner - maybe after the motormount issue??? For sure, the double shot glass idea has some appeal; one for the car, one for me... ( let us know how this works out).
Hi Sean, Tell us a bit more about the "Fiat 850 Killer Poly mounts" - that you only had to do a little mod on-- Man, i am all ears ! Sooner or later the engine is going to come out and this would be the time to do the mounts. I only hope i have enough bucks to do a killer jobe on the engine, like Russ Turner has done, ( Sorry Sean and Verell, No blower for this old dude - gimme carbs).
Hey Verell, I know the bushings are going to help, but untill then, I am going to have to go with Tex's killer - Shot glass fix. Seriously, did the factory really think that the shifting mechanism would last indefinitely without lube??? Maybe, stuff like this could be included in Unobtanium's 308 manual??? Desperately in need of advice, chris
Verell's Shift Shaft Seals 'grip' the shaft as it passes through both walls of the Oil Sump on their way to the Gearbox Sump, and as a result stiffens the 'feel' of the gearshift linkage and removes slop in the lever. There are TWO silentbloc bushings in the shift linkage - one just past the shifter gate, and the other is located on the shaft right before it enters the Oil Sump area (within the Shift Shaft coupling) - this one is more prone to deterioration, since it experiences more heat from the engine and the elements. If either of these wear, the shifter starts to go out of alignment. My car couldn't find reverse-gear when this occurred. Imagine putting the Ferrari in Reverse, and realizing the gearbox still has First Gear engaged instead.....not kidding. The OEM Shift Shaft Seals are of a poor design - I have had several prominent Ferrari mechanics tell me they'll only last three years, at-best, before they start to leak again. Verell's seals are made from a heat-resistant pliable material that is more durable, lasts longer, and seals better than any other seal on the market. Since installing mine, I have had ZERO oil leaks from my car, the bottom of my engine has NEVER been this clean, and the shifter has a smooth, firm feel to it with no sloppy 'play'.
Penetrant = PB Blaster? As shown in the picture, the linkage was packed with a heavy grease in the shifter box originally....
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154650&highlight=urethane+motor+mounts everything you need to know cheers edit: you'll see I didn't have to pull the engine . . . FWIW I double clutch most of my shifts and rev match pretty well to the point that I can drive without the clutch if I need to.
