I am a new owner of a 84 308gts-qv. What I thought was a steel for a buy has turned into a money pit. I bought the car to drive and I am determine to make it a week-end driver. I was on the global ferrariChat and they suggested that I go to the Texas region, so here I am.

I am in need of a shop or Mechanic that pin point my problem. I realize that the replacement part darts that I am throwing at it is the wrong approach.

My 308 starts great, idles at 2400 for a few minutes then drops to 2000. When everything is up to temp, I take it out. It runs great for about 30mins, with a lot of snap and throttle response. Then the idle drops to 1500 and it looses horse power, like it is running on 7cyl. about 10 more mins idle drops to 800 and it will hardly stay running. I shut in down and it becomes very hard to start. After sitting for a few days it starts all over, it starts great and runs great for 30mins.

I have replaced, wires, extenders, cap and rotos....

Any ideas? or can anyone recommend a shop in or near Austin TX?

I've heard great things about MooreSpeed in the Austin area and there's always Norwood Performance in the Dallas area, where I get work done on my 328.

David Moore is your guy in Austin. Moorespeed. His shop is hard to find but worth the effort. He is just off of Airport on the East side of 35. Use the back door. Dave's got my TR running great. I enjoyed a few redline shifts around the lake this weekend before the rain got here.

Welcome to Ferrari ownership in Austin. Can't wait to see your car.

Change the plugs too? What about the fuel filter? Is your model a carb'd version? If so, I'd look at rebuilding the carb if it's never been done (don't know how easy that is to get done for a Ferrari). After what you've already done, and the few things I mentioned, yep, it'd be time to go to an expert..

You disappoint me Matt, he told us it's an 84 QV, everything past the 80's is fuel injected. Too much Pantera info in your head! :)

I thought of the fuel filter also, but I'm no mechanic.
