This 1978 308 GTS showed up at a local New Hampshire pull-a-part junkyard. I heard it was pulled from the crusher after someone realized that it was a Ferrari, and was worth more han its weight in scrap metal. Ooops...I hope someone got fired!

Agreed - they should have finished crushing it. Probably the wheels are the only salvageable parts from the car at this point. Not sure what 14" wheels are going for now since that's what supposed to be on a '78 308. But those wheels look bigger - maybe 16" wheels? If they're the TRX wheel, there's not much demand for those...

    Yea, well.........

Salvage yards have a place, but often they don't have the brightest lamp from the box staffing them, ya know????

OEM 14"s go for about $50 - $150 each, depending on condition.....as noted, you have trouble giving the 390mm's away...

    Kevin,

See if you can bag those wheels, should be five total, with a full sized spare.......;)

The rest of that looks to be a rollover accident, with salvage of the usuable panels already completed via chop saw, see the RH rear 1/4????

Surely they set aside the engine/tranny????
    Well, maybe not.....

    Not bad.

The two rims look pretty good. Salvage the muffler, oil pan, straighten the steering wheel out. You could make some money off of ebay. Oh, and the transmission too.

I'm wondering if the Gucci own'ers paperwork pouch is still behind the passenger seat?

I'll bet the engine & tranny are still saveable. What's the name of that place in NH? I'll take a ride over.

Umm, looking a bit closer, it looks like the passenger compartment paint was burned off & the metal's rusting badly, so may not have been much to save after all.

It'll buff right out..... Yeah, the complete story about what happened with this car before it met the crusher is unknown, but I saw it in person and it was obviously in a pretty major accident before is got squished (which is also pretty obvious). There was a bit of fire involved, and the "kitty-litter" stuff used to mop up all the fluids at the accident scene was tossed inside the car on the floor! Car had been partially parted out as aparent in the fact that the rear clip was cut away. I was also told at some point that theives broke into a previous yard where it was kept, and started removing parts when they were caught red-handed. One of the valve covers was taken off, instrumentation, motors, etc were in a seperate pile. Car had 73,000km on it, but most anything worth saving is either busted up or is already gone. It would have had many decent salvageable parts, if it hadn't met with the crusher but if anyone is interested, it is located at Auto World in Candia, NH. The carbs are in tact, but damaged, the rear valve cover had been removed, exposing the motor to water. They were asking $1500 for the motor, and $1500 for the tranny, but I personally would stay away from it becasue this car was obviously neglected by the clenliness of the motor and who knows what other unseen damage these extreme forces caused. Things like shocks, rotors, etc might be ok but I think the only value this one has is that feeling you get when you look at the photo and be glad its not your car!
