After repeated emails with no response ,I NEED YOUR HELP RE Avorio Safari Paint
Wade I'm hoping to get the car into the shop before the holidays . actually before the end of this week. Can you please share some info please. THx mike
How can I help? Your painter would have to match the paint. I believe they have special paint scanners. You need to find some original paint, maybe inside the door. Before my car was painted I sent emails to Ferrari customer service via Ferrari.com to confirm the paint code on the car cause I did a bare metal repaint. A very nice Italian lady called and confirmed the paint code from Italy. I gave that code to the shop and they were able to mix the color. My original paint on the car was not bad just looked like cracked egg shells on the hood and roof. Will post some pics when I get a chance..
Thx for the reply. I have not found any original paint on my car since it was a metal job 16 yrs ago painted silver. Inside the doors is all zbart and adhesives from the grey sheet that is behind the door panel. I know the code is 20-y-546. and you had stated that your car was original paint. Did your body shop scan your actual paint? Or did they go off the code? I have not been able to find original paint because it was a lacquer. Even at a autobody supply they do not have it. Some Avorio photos look beige others look off white. If you have the code your body shop made or used that is what I need. So I can have a batch made and tested to be sure. I saw the photos you posted let year and since it was original paint that is the color I want it looks off white not beige. . I look forward to photos as well please.
The guys that paint cars will know better than I but I do believe that PPG has a Historian working for them that has original formulas in their archives. I was able to get the formula for a 1952 212 Ferrari from them awhile back. They know how to convert the formulas to modern equivalents.
