Noticed my radiator fan relays are running very hot. Is this normal?

Mine are all the original metal relays.

Heat is a sign of excess current. It could be the contacts in the relays need cleaning. It can be disassembled and the contacts burnished. Or the fan is drawing excessive current.
When the high temp fans run each fan runs on a separate relay. So are both relays getting hot or just one?

I should add that you can swap in a spare relay and see if it gets hot.

Yes, both are equally hot. They seem to be radiating the heat to other relays around them as well. I ordered new replacements to try. Will report back.

The first thing to do is clean the relay terminals with something like Deoxit Corrosion on the terminals causes resistance which causes a voltage drop and heat. So your fans may be only getting 8 volts instead of 12 and that 4 or 5 volt drop across the terminals is being lost as heat.
