I'm going to change my thermostat and would like to remove the part of the air intake shown in the photo. Do I need to remove the wheel well liner to access the mounting hardware for the intake ? (I don't see any hardware from above) It will also make thermostat removal MUCH easier.

YES you must remove the wheel-well liner to remove the duct - its extremely trivial once the wheel and wheel-well liner are removed. In fact, you'll be 'going in there' fairly often, so you might as well get the practice!

In fact, Carlos' first picture shows a commonly 'missing' piece of ductwork - there is supposed to be a piece of orange ribbed duct coming off of the branch outlet of the black plastic duct, that provides cooling air to the Alternator. For a second there, I thought I was looking at MY car, lol!

I think the branch outlet that suppose to have the orange duct (missing) is for cooling the right inner CV boot.

Thanks- I thought so, it will also provide easy access to some hoses that could stand to be replaced while I'm in there. (todays project)
I may take some pics too , if it looks like they'll be useful to someone.
