had a great drive this morning. get back into the garage and there is a severe hissing from the driver side rear tire. Good sized nail in it (prob for near by construction). Oh well, the tires are 10 years old and i was going to go looking for a new set anyway.

I've got Goodyear Eagle HP's ZR rated (225/50ZR16 rear and 205/55ZR16 front).

i can't seem to find these tires anywhere and i'd love to get the same ones (creature of habit and they've been great tires).

Anyone know where i can find these, or recommend an equivalent tire?

    thanks much.

    10 year old tires?????
Besides the nail, you should have changed theses tires at least 5 years ago!

any suggestions for a suitable replacement?

I put Bridgestone RE07s on mine and they seem very good, especially since they are priced well.

For a 328, I said that I like the RE-11A in the other thread.

However, for a 308, I like the Bridgestone RE-760. I don't know why, the tread pattern just looks better for the older car.

It's not like either car can make use of all of the grip offered by these modern tires anyway. :)

Most users seem to like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Same size; 205/55 ZR16 front, 225/50 ZR16 rear; currently $448 a set of 4 at Tire Rack, with $70 Michelin rebate. They're all-season tires.

    Cheers.

I put these Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 on my 308QV last year, the week after I bought it - replacing 12 year old Pirelli P7000. While they're all-season tires, they are in the Ultra High Performance category, and by Tire Rack testing, the best handling/performing of the all-season tires. They have better grip, traction, handling than any of the summer performance tires that were on the market or OEM when the 308s were new. They won't have as much grip as something like the Bridgestone RE-11 or other max performance summer tires, but some argue that those have more grip than the car was designed for...

I find that the Michelin PS A/S3 have very good steering feel also - they're responsive, not too soft or mushy or imprecise. With a good looking tread pattern, and the knowledge that on a cold near-freezing morning in the mountains the rubber will not have lost grip from the cold like summer tires do, they are a very good choice for a 308 that won't be tracked.

    10 year old tires?

You might as well sell the car cheap to me and just buy a new one.
