Helle, my name is Guenter. I live in Germany. I am the owner of am 308QV for more than 12 years now. In my car there is a black box with a lock on the left side of the spare wheel. I have no idea for what it is. I am not certain whether this was a stock item that came with the car or whether the car was modified by the previous owner. Do a web search for MT 1340, and you'll get a bunch of hits for it being either an alarm, or garage door opener or car remote, have a look . . .

Almost certainly an immobiliser module .Trace the wires back and check the back of your fuse box area .See where its connected ….thinking fuel pump fuse or relay ? Think about removing it .One day it might fail leaving an open circuit and your car will either stop if running or fail to start .
