Took my 348 spider now with 60000kms for a MAJOR. Just noticed the 30k major is getting cheaper as years go by. This time it included: Hill tensioner bearings, alternator belt, distribuition tensioner, painting red parts of engine, gaskets, transmission part, re drill exaust support, oil and gas filters, brake fluid, engine oil, cooling fluid, iridium spark plugs, recharge A/C Bought most of it at superperformance UK except spark plugs (driven2automotive) and the fluids/liquids at local shops. labour costs: 750 parts: 1355 TOTAL: 2105
The labor is the difference. At 1.35 EUR/USD, that's about $1800 USD for the parts -- which is slightly more than we charge at Ricambi America. It also equates to around $1000 for labor. At a blistering service speed of 20 hours (for the engine drop, service, and reinstallation) the shop would only be billing around $50/hour. I don't know of many places in the US that could legally stay in business at that rate. In other words, I don't think this is an apples-to-apples comparison.
Woah! Ferrari mechanics aren't making much in Portugal! Of course cost of living factors in as well. I've heard that Portugal cost of living is a lot easier than, for example, NOVA, LA, NY or Miami
