Hi Guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with my dealer, and wonder if someone could tell me roughly what a 30k mile servie should ost in London. - Also, is there any way for me to tell if the work has actually been done? Full story to follow
There's no such thing 308 typically will have a basic service for two years and then a cambelt service in the third year Lots of UK specialists such as Verdi show the cost on their websites
I think they start about £400.00 for the anual service and more if it needs work which it usualy does, thats without belts. Keep us upto date with your situation mate, hope it sorts itself out. Regards Roy
Thanks Guys, I think at 30k miles it needs a new timing belt and valve adjustment. The car has been stored for 5 years undriven. The dealer was supposed to do a lot of work on it for me, but upon inspection it appears he has done nothing. Even the most basic work, such as getting the electric windows working has not been done, so I find it hard to believe he did any of the more complex work.
Rrari, Despite what greyboxer says, there is a generally understood "30K service" which includes new belts, WP, valve adjust, distrib seals, and a few other items. Perhaps this is not specifically set forth in a ferrari WSM, but any ferrari service facility knows very well what's meant by a "30K service" I think you brits are accustomed to paying a little less for this service than we are in the US - here it's more like $4-5,000 US dollars whereas I've heard of reputable UK service facilities doing it all for about 2,000 pounds or a little less.
With the cam belt covers on, no...other than the service centre showing you the condition of your old belts. Granted, they could show you any old 308 timing belt, but that would be very devious.
The OEM belts do have some date coding on them - that would at least tell you the age of the belts. But, it's not just belts here to be concerned about - the condition of the tensioner bearing is just as (if not more) important. Hard to assess the condition of the bearing, so best to just change it.
