What is the going rate for a 328 30k engine service? I’m getting different numbers of prices.

In Manhattan or bum f##k Nebraska? Whats on their list of standard items.

No 2 majors are the same. Different shops do it differently. Some throw in the kitchen sink even when not needed. Simply comparing prices absent a lot of other information is pretty meaningless.

I was in the Ferrari service business in the SF Bay area for nearly 40 years and still cannot answer you.
    A. No reason in the world to automatically replace the water pump with a major. Id reject that place out of hand.
    B. You still are not defining a major. Are distributor caps and wires included? Thats more than a grand right there. Where as belts and fluids are part of any major.

Find a really good shop and just give it to them. Price shopping on its own isn't going to get you where you need to be.

Yes, find a good shop. But whenever I have my 308, 355 or any other car serviced I tell them explicitly what I want done with the caveat, "If you find something let me know. Don't do it w/o my approval." Then I ask for an estimate. And as always, I want all old parts. If the shop won't work that way, they won't work for me. I don't care how many other Ferraris they have worked on. They weren't my car and my cars doesn't necessarily need what the last one they worked on needed.

I have had my 328 worked on at Tonkin in Portland. They always tell me if they find something else that needs attention and give me the option to fix with a price. Been happy with them over the years. My car was from the bay area originally. Patrick Ottis and Ferrari in Marin did the work for the previous owner.
I agree, no two cars need the same service. My water pump was fine when I did my last belt service. Most likely get the belts done again later this year......

    +1000!!!

I plan on servicing my original 328's water pump when it gives some sign of needing it. Until then, it remains where Ferrari bolted it in 1989. ;)

Ok great, I appreciate all the feed back and knowledge what to know, first here with a 328. I used to own a 94 348 spider. But never had to worry about servicing the car. My 2 uncles had a shop in Tacoma,wa so they took care of all my needs. Now I’m on my own and learning things and wanting to do stuff on my own as well too.
