From the description, this would be 0900, the Chinetti built up car. http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/ferrari/1317744128/1317744128ss.htm
Really steep price for a "built up" chassis.... Being this old, it must have some real JUNK on it, but without disclosure about what it is, it will be hard to debate other than saying it is a pipe dream price.
No, this one was built up by John Hajduk/Motorkraft Ltd for Joe Galdi, during the time Galdi owned 312 PB #0892.
0900 was owned by Chinetti from 1977-until his passing in 1994. It was then passed on to Chinetti, Jr. who held on to it until 2006. 0900 was NOT BUILT BY CHINETTI OR NART. It is an absolutely GENUINE ,albiet unraced, 312 P(B) The car in Denver is a REPLICA chassis built by John Hadjuk around a genuine 312 F1 -NOT P(B)- engine and gearbox. Here is a photo of 0900 in the Factory's own showroom prior to delivery to Chinetti in 1977: Image Unavailable, Please Login
As Michael has noted, the "B" should be in parentheses (it noted at all), as it was designated 312 P by the factory, not 312 PB.
Anyone know why it was delivered in an older body configuration? I would think that the last 312 built would have the latest body, certainly in 1977.
The 312 P(B)s that were sold off to collectors were re-built with whatever parts were still useable. Actually, ALL of the later chassis number range (0892,0894,0896,&0900) have the same type of body configuration. (early body panels lengthened at the end of 1972, as seen at Imola and Kylami) If you look at the inside of these panels, you can clearly see the joint where they added the extra material to make the panels fit the lengthened (623/012) chassis. Chassis #0888 was actually the LAST 312 P(B) to be sold off, and that didn't happen until 1980.
The Rabb serial # book says 0900 was not used by the Factory. He obtained his info from a firsthand review of Factory records. David was very well connected and I wouldent think he would have used a duplicate number. Wayne Sparling built a 312PB for NART, using (I think) the motor and gearbox from the Guinti (SP??) accident. Where does this fit in? I dont profess to be an expert, but I know some of the guys inolved.
Sparling did build a 312 P(B) esque looking car that encompassed many components from 312 P (V12) #0872. All of the 0872 content of that car has since returned to 0872. Anyone who thinks Piper was more connected with the factory than Chinetti is obviously VERY MISINFORMED...There is a "REAL" 0900 (This car has NOTHING to do with the car that Sparling built while working for NART, other than both cars were owned by Chinetti) and a P4 Replica that also uses this number. 0900 is omitted from record keeping (public)for reasons that are innapropriate to discuss in this forum.
This car has been offered for a LONG time. The price is astronomical for what it is. However, if anyone needs, I am happy to take a run down to Denver and have a close look at it. CW

Yes, that is the Sparling (NART) built car that once contained the drivetrain and suspension of #0872. This car has NOTHING to do with the 312 P(B) #0900 that was also owned by Chinetti.
Does anyone have recent pictures of: 0884 (I guess still with Bardinon) 0894 (USA?) 0896 (Perfetti?) Thanks in advance. Here are pictures I took in recent years of: 0880 0882 0886 0888 0890 0892 I like them all but to me the older the body style the better. Regardless of its creation I think this would be a great car to simply race and enjoy, be it from the driver seat or just looking at it.

Sorry, No new pics of 0884 (Really 0898 re-numbered as 0884 after original 0884 was destroyed by fire at Sebring, 1972) The car is still in France with Bardinon. Here are recent pics of 0894,0896, &0900 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes not sure exactly what but I remember it starting with a R. There was some legal issue with it and customs and that R was required from then on.
