I used a urethane plastic resin that offers heat protection up to 300 degrees. I may change that to a more flexible plastic so they do not snap upon installation.

Looks like the original. What did you use as a mold?

I used the original clips that I pulled off my QV (pictured right). I just finished a batch and put em on my car. None of them broke so I'm looking good.

Can use let us know what product you used? I'm sure there are several of us, including me, that would like to get more information on how you achieved this. Thanks

Sure. I use all smooth-on products. I have for years. Use their OOMOO silicone rubber for the mold and then their TASK 8 urethane plastic resin for the parts casting. I did a bunch of tests and the best result is using the part right out of the mold on the car rather than going through the 6 hour heat curing process. That makes the part a little more brittle and they were prone to breaking upon installation. I just put a non heat treated clip in the oven at 300 degrees and it's fine.

I'm also happy to make a set (or any number of clips) for anyone that needs them.

Thanks all. I'm going to make a new mold on the 4 line clip this weekend. I'm not liking the existing one because the original had a flaw in it that could lead to breakage upon installation. The new one will be much stronger.

I contected smooth on to have them send and a few different urethane compounds to test in the next 1-2 weeks. I love the heat resistance of the resin i am using now but I want more flex to prevent breakage. I am making sure I have a compound that can stand up the heat and also being pulled on and off many times w/o breaking unlike the origonals. there are 3 that should fit the bill but I want to test their air heat deflection temp.

For thos who have PM'd me I will get back to you soon.

I don't know if I am within the forum rules with this but I have received so many requests for these that I felt like i needed to address the cost. I'm not in the business of Ferrari parts but I an happy to help fellow owners source parts. And if I am to only source for these parts for the moment i'm happy to help you all out. I don't want to post them in the ads section because they are not ready to sell yet. So anywho, I was going to charge for my time and materials...$25 shipped in the US for a full set. If you need one or three clips that's fine too.

    Got a favor to ask...

Can any of you measure the temp of the air in the engine bay after a ride for me? near the areas where the clips are located.

    thanks

New materials for testing are coming in within a week. New plastics from smooth on and freeman. I spoke with the techs at both companies and we picked out some good materials that should fit the bill.

No problem. Not everything Ferrari related has to be expensive. 6 or 7 plastic clips that weigh an ounce....easy to ship for a few dollars in the US.
