Does anyone have any information on when (or why) the 328 went from a deeper set rim ('86 and '87) to the more rounded wheels ('88) like on the Mondial 3.2? I thought maybe it had something to do with TRXs, but I don't know of many 328s running 390s. Was it simply dealer/owner preference or is there any difference in bolt patter/spacing etc. Coker shows identical sizes (16) for all model years.

Thanks. I searched the forum earlier for this very thread with muddled results. This helps. I suppose then that I cannot run concave (88.5+) wheels on a pre-suspension-change '88?

Concave wheels were 86-88. Convex late 88-89. They do not interchange.

I think you misspoke there -- if you want to run the CONVEX (88.5+) wheels on a pre-suspension-change '88 chassis, that's doable, but requires some fairly thick (and expensive) bolt-on spacers.

It's the other combination, the early concave 328 wheels on a 88.5+ 328 chassis that can't be done.

Although a bit fuzzy, this Mondial with ABS 'convex' larger offsets is fitted with the concave wheels with smaller offsets. You can see that this projects the wheel outside of the well an inch or so, and gives some handling and operational suspension changes. It would look the same if the concave wheels were fitted to a later ABS convex wheel 328.
    Hope this helps visualize.
