Folks, Cleaned the front compartment this AM to find this part in front of the Brake Fluid Reservoir. It was encased in material that seemed to have been designed to protect the bourdon tube, but the material was rally gunky like melted asphalt and was completely torn apart, so I decided to take it out. Can someone identify this part and suggest what material i with which I can cover this? Does this get hot? I have a spare Distributor Rubber boot which I think I can modify to protect this gadget. thanks! Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is the expansion valve for the AC, the stuff you removed is insulation material, it needs to be in place to work correctly.

Its an insulation. Cork tape, used to wrap outlet of expansion valve. Prevents condensation and ice build up when a/c running. Rubber insulating tape 1/8" also can be used. PM me if you want either. Will send N/C.
