Hi all, I have an 86 328 with about 29K miles and was driving on the highway yesterday and noticed when I put my brakes on the pedal feels like its vibrating a bit.. this is a Non ABS car, so I know its not that... seems like the disks may be warped.... but from what ... its been sitting for about a week... never noticed it before...

question is - brake issue or wheels needing balanced? only notices on the highway coming down from anywhere above 65 70mph????

    Any ideas?

I had a problem like that on few cars.
from high speed lightly press on the brake pedal if the front rotors are
warpped you can kind of feel it in the steering wheel. a slight juttering.

also driving slowly and bringing the car to a stop with light pressure on the
brake can some times show up a warpped rotor. the car will surge.

may be there is rust or dirt on the rotors....

Tom, mine had the high speed brake vibration, after having it resurfaced (front rotors only) No more vibration at any speed. So yours probably just need resurfacing, make you check for minimum thickness.

If it just happened a couple of times, it might be surface rust -- especially if the brakes were wet when it was put away. That should rub off after a few stops.

If it persists, you need to look further.

Normally the rustcoat should really be gone after few times hard breaking! The rotors are probably worn, beware they are very expensive when you buy them at an official dealer!
    Regards!

Thanks guys, I drove the car to work today and it dose not seem so bad... I stomped on the brakes a couple of times you can feel it just barely... most likely is the disks are a bit warpped...I'll have them machined ... was just wondering if this is common or not... I had a 300ZX TT with the big brembo brake kit on it and they used to warpp every spring - stored the car in an un heated garage in PA...Nissan used to machine them for me for free...

I know what you mean about the dealer prices... labor is not $125/ hr!!!

Also, make sure the wheel bolts are torqued to spec or a little higher. Excess and/or uneven torque contributes to warped rotors.
