About 7 months ago I purchased a 328 with 31,000 miles on it from a Ferrari dealer and they recommended the bushings be replaced for $5K they wanted to do it. The car was in Salt Lake City for the past 30 years, where the climate is dry, so I expect it really does need the bushings.
Does anyone know of a reasonable repair shop near Santa Monica, Ca?

I'm suprised that a official FERRARI dealer don't do the work he has even recommended himself !

Well the Ferrari dealer would have done it for $5000 labor + parts, but for that price, the seller didn't want to have it done and my thought was to have it done later at a more reasonable shop. The car was in good condition, so the dealer sold the car on consignment.

Try black horse motors on la cienega. Carl Steuer is one of the best master mechanics in LA and their prices for various major service and resto items are relatively reasonable.

Black Horse wanted $5K also to do all the bushings, however Carl was skeptical that it needed them. He said just because the rubber shows cracks on the outside, it doesn't mean they are bad on the inside, unless you can see the rubber squeezing out. He said getting oil on them is what really kills them, not age. He has 30 years experience working on these cars.

Changing bushings is a labor intensive project but $5K?? It is not a 40 hour job! 12 hours the most for someone who knows what they are doing.

Relying on memory there is F&M in WLA or SM.

Maseratisource has great pricing on original style bushings, ball joints and tie rods. I believe I paid around $750 for all.

Here is a good link for anyone who wants to replace bushings in a 308 and see what the job entails...

    Replacing the 308/Mondial Suspension Bushings

Someone on this site knows if a 328 bushing replacement is similar to a 308's repair, I would only guess it might be, but I really have no idea.
