I cross posted in Technical but thought I should put it here as well. My boys here always come through. After driving my car yesterday, I noticed a puddle of coolant (green, smells like coolant, feels like coolant) around the DRIVER's side rear wheel. I looked all the hoses and could not find a leak. Started it up today and went for a 10 minute drive. Upon return and parkign it in the garage, I saw the coolant dripping - from the fiberglass inner wheel well and it was all over the inside of the driver's side rear wheel. I checked all the hoses from above and the side and I cannot find a single drop. No cooling issues, though. Does anyone have any ideas?
This is nasty but it sounds like the coolant hose that runs up to the cabin heater in the front. This hose runs thru the drivers side rocker panel and is a hard job to replace. Figure a long day and at least a six pack of Bass Ale.
Mine had a similar issue back in Oct. while driving to Bodega Bay. Got stuck in some traffic and noticed some smoke ( small amount )coming from the engine bay. I quickly pulled off and noted the same thing you are describing. I wasn't able to narrow it down to a hose at the time. Had the car towed home and serviced later that week. My water pump was going out. Had it rebuilt and it's as good as new. Dan
It was the cap on the expansion tank. Fixed it today. Went for a long drive in town with the temp at 95 degrees outside. Temps normal and no more leaking. Thanks for everyone who said it was the cap.
