My 328 has been spitting out coolant which has now been cured by changing the expansion tank cap.

In the interim I've had to refill it with plain old tap water (needs must when yr out on the road). Net result is that the water/antifreeze mixture has got diluted significantly.

So I need to rectify this & it would seem sensible to do a complete drain & refill - especially because I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done for years.

I know that the ideal thing to use would be 50:50 mix with distilled water but I can't find a source of it. I know it can be bought very cheaply & easly in the US but that's not the case here in the UK.

    The options are therefore

    a) to use plain old tap water (which is quite hard here)
    b) I can buy gallon cans of de-ionised water for about £3.50 ($5-$6 each) so I could get 2 or 3 of those
    c) I can get enough water out of the dehumidifier in my garage in about 2 days.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi, Iain,

I don't know anything about de-ionized water, but it seems to me the water from your dehumidifier would work fine. I use rainwater, which is reasonably pure here, but in your location it might be quite acidic.

    Cheers, Mark
