    is the diff /crown wheel cover able to be removed without removing the cyl head ...............cheers

    I've done it on a 308 QV, 328 heads are same casting, so should be doable.

    I removed the muffler, rear headers, fender wells, half-shafts & went at it. IIRC I had to double nut some of the diff cover studs to get them out as my collet type stud puller couldn't get in there. Think I had to back some studs out of the bottom case but leave them loose in the cover as I removed it as there wasn't enough clearance to pull the studs out of the cover.     Would unbolting the rear motor mounts and dropping the trans down a little make it any easier do you think?
