Anyone know a cross reference or where to get a set of Emergency brake pads? I have an abs car... not sure if they are the same on the non-abs.

    Thanks,
    Chris

My mechanic said that those never wear out (assuming you have not been driving withe the handbrake on :) ). Mine was not holding well and a simple adjustment brought it back to life.

308 is completely different. The 328 has separate little shoes inside the wheel hub (like drum brakes). These work.

The 308 has a mechanism inside the caliper to clamp the regular pads against the disc.

search for how to adjust the 308...it requires fiddling with the cable that is stretched between the two rear calipers, the cable going
to the brake handle, and/or some clearance adjust screws in the caliper.

then maybe slight differences in the cable length with the suspension at full droop vs. sitting on the ground (like when you were adjusting the cables with the car on jack stands), temperature causing the cables to expand/contract, pad/rotor glazing/dirt reducing hold
friction, and the odd gravitational effects of parking too near SUVs all come into play to make the damn thing not work well regardless of how much you tweak it.

about the best you can usually do is adjust it so that when you remove the top, stand on both seats and yank up as
hard as you can, the car stays put...on a flat surface :)

My shoes don't actually have any pad on them. They are just steel. Is this the way they are supposed to be? or has the shoe pad just gotten old and fallen off?

I haven't seen mine. But if you can see yours and there is no friction material on them then they need help.
