I guess *00927* and *01256* are the engine serial numbers in the photos, is that right? If it is then I'm wondering why my number is so low: 00201 (1988 Swiss market 328-built in late 1987). Would that be the 201st Swiss market 328 engine built? Or the 201st Swiss market engine built in 1987?? The full stamping on mine is: F105 \046*00201* CH 1F 10 03 Type: F106 AS/R-1 Erich
Yes, but don't include the "stars" -- the respective engine serial numbers are 00927 and 01256. It is the 201st of that particular engine family -- they start over for each engine family (although I have to confess that I wouldn't be sure just what your engine family officially is -- you've got a lot more markings than most).
Thanks for the info. I guess each extra letter/number on mine takes away from 0.5 to 1 horsepower Erich
oops.... my mistake. The "CH 1F 10 03 Type: F106 AS/R-1" is off of the data plate in the engine compartment. Erich
Sorry for being (very) late but I just discovered this old thread. Indeed your engine is the 201st "Swiss market" 3.2L engine. "Swiss market" because engine type F105C046 should be fitted on others market than Swiss like Sweden ( others in 1987 ? ) and 3.2L because you don't forget the Mondial ( heaven I don't know many about 1987 Swiss Mondial ) This engine should be on one of few late 1987 Swiss 328 ( #753xx to #755xx ). Around January 1988 3.2L engine number range change and used number 10xxx
